If you frequently visit your local juice bar or find yourself perusing through health and wellness websites, then you’ve likely come across a popular beverage known as Golden Milk, Tumeric Tea or what we like to refer to as “Liquid Gold”.

If you haven’t heard of it or tried it, then you’re in for a real treat.

This delicious, yellow-coloured creamy beverage gets its name from the main ingredient “Turmeric”; which is well known for its anti-inflammatory and healing benefits.

Many nutritionists and natural health practitioners believe this Indian spice (comprised of Cucumerin) has the potential to reduce pain and heal many ailments. In fact, research shows that Tumeric may offer similar benefits to many common anti-inflammatory medications.

In fact, we came across several studies indicating that Tumeric may help to reduce a variety of symptoms and conditions such as: joint pain, arthritis, menstrual pain, depression/mood disorders, post-operative pain and inflammatory bowel disease. It may also aid in weight loss, while potentially preventing Type II diabetes and some forms of cancer. Although research is still in its infancy, we are hopeful that this super spice will become a household staple. If you’re curious about “Golden Milk”, then we suggest trying it yourself. Heck — don’t take our word for it!

Golden Milk Recipe
1 tbsp Ginger (grated)
1 cup Organic Coconut Milk (canned), Cashew Milk or Almond Milkk
1 cup Water
1 tsp Turmeric (powder)
1 tbsp Raw Honey
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1 1/2 tsps Coconut Oil

1. Grate the ginger then squeeze the juice into a saucepan. Discard the pulp. Add the remaining ingredients to the saucepan and place over medium heat. Heat through for about 3 to 5 minutes, not letting it come to a boil. Whisk continuously.

2. Carefully transfer into a mason jar and seal with a lid. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds, or until a foam starts to form. (Note: You can also use a blender for this step, but the turmeric may stain the blender cup.)

  1. Pour into glasses through a sieve and enjoy!
